Calibration Certificate (Cal Cert) Digitization

Turn third-party calibration certificates into structured, analytics-ready data.

Third-party calibration certificates carry detailed evidence about how an instrument actually performed. Stored as paper or as a PDF attachment, that evidence sits outside your calibration system. You can retrieve the document. You can’t trend it, query it, or compare it against the work your own metrology team performed.

Calibration Certificate Digitization — Cal Cert, for short — is a Blue Mountain service that reads third-party certificates and populates the results into RAM or CompuCal as structured records. The original certificate stays attached as supporting documentation. The information inside it becomes part of your calibration history.

ISO/IEC 17025 already standardizes what a calibration certificate reports (clauses 7.8.2 and 7.8.4). That consistency is what makes reliable extraction possible. It’s also what makes transcribing the same fields by hand, a few thousand times a year, difficult to defend as a use of your metrology team’s time.

  • Capture the Result, Not Just the Document

Bring the calibration details from each certificate into your system as structured data — not just an attachment and a pass/fail result.

  • Reduce Manual Transcription

Cut the keystrokes between a supplier's certificate and your calibration record — and the transcription errors that travel with them.

  • Trend Across All Your Calibration Work

Analyze outsourced calibration results alongside the work your own team performs, in one system, without exporting anything.

  • Keep the Original Record Intact

Retain the source certificate as supporting documentation while its contents become structured, queryable data.

Put the Data You Already Own to Work

Most calibration programs already hold years of third-party results. The certificates are filed, retrievable, and inspection-ready — and almost entirely unusable for anything beyond retrieval.

Once that information exists as structured data, calibration history becomes something you can analyze. Drift patterns become visible across suppliers and instrument families. Reviews draw on your complete record rather than the subset your own team generated. Nobody retypes a certificate to get there.

The result is a more complete digital calibration history, built from records you already have.

How It Works

  1. Step 1 of 3: Collect

    What Happens
Blue Mountain receives the third-party calibration certificates already generated by your suppliers.
    What You Do
Send the certificates. You don't need to renegotiate with suppliers or change their templates.
  2. Step 2 of 3: Extract

    What Happens
Blue Mountain reads each certificate, captures the defined information, and checks the captured values.
    What You Do
Review the extraction specification and approve the field mapping.
  3. Step 3 of 3: Populate

    What Happens
Blue Mountain maps the captured information into RAM or CompuCal as structured calibration records. The source certificate remains attached.
    What You Do
Confirm the records land where your procedures expect them.
